Mike Vallely – Glory Bound Tour 2010

I’ve lived in NJ for about 8 years now, and the raddest place I’ve come to find thus far is Garden SK8. Nestled unsuspectingly in Pine Brook, NJ, Garden SK8 is one of the largest indoor skateparks around. Todd Schwartz, the owner, has created THE house where sport, music and art collide. Garden SK8 offers skate camps, clinics, lessons and open skate sessions, and graciously gives local artists a space to sell their creations at a Punk Flea Market. One of the most amazing things about Garden SK8 is their partnerships in helping to expose children, who otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity, to skateboarding, and providing refurbished and donated boards. If you have kids, take them there. And, if you are a giant kid, like me, go immediately. You’ll probably want to move in and call it home.

On July 30th, Garden SK8 hosted Mike V’s Glory Bound Tour featuring the legendary Mike Vallely, with special guests Duane Peters, Bill Danforth, Kristian Svitak and Cyril Jackson. Todd allowed me to get in the way photograph the event; Amazing show, fantastic people, and at the end of it all, Mike V stayed around to talk to each and every wide-eyed-in-awe kid, shake their hand and give them an autograph of their hero to take home. Thanks to Garden SK8 for letting me shoot, and to the Glory Bound Crew for putting on a great time!
